One may wind up doing desparate things to earn a living. It doesn’t help, if you’re completely lacking in business sense, whether its because of naive modesty or sheer greed. Craftmanship is wrestling with industrial production methods while the homespun DIY-spirit is bloating to an absurd scale.

The exhibition gropes the essence of money, value, work and raw material and the relations between them. Stirring the plot are also recycling of materials, exploitation and buyers responsibility. The subjects may be difficult, exhausted, perhaps even a little frightening, but a dose of humour brings things to a humane perspective.

The exhibition is supported by Turku city, Oscar Öflunds Stiftelse and Arts Promotion Centre Finland.

The opening of the exhibition is at Thursday 13th September at 6–10 pm. Meet the artist on Saturday 5th September at 2–4 pm. Welcome!

Timo Takala (born 1980) makes conceptual art, objects that often look just like sculptures, behind which are acts of sort of performances. Diverse materials and techniques are chosen according to what the idea necessitates. Additionally, Takala makes use of the conventions of displaying art. The name and technique, and this time also the price, are an inseparable part of the artwork.
