Miia Autio

2 June – 25 June 2017

Light and Dust

Detail from Miia Autio’s art work “Rakennelma”
(2017, water colour on paper).

Everyday life with its incidents and encounters is the starting point of
my works. Slow change is paralleled with fleeting experiences and
perceptions. The past mingles with the present, the touchable with the
imagined. The binding theme is the perception of the passage of time as
well as memories and the narrativity they create.

The works are watercolour and ink paintings on paper. While working I
have pondered over the cycle of life, being in and out of control, the way
memories change and are re-built and the meaning of temporal distance.
