8th Turku Biennial

Reija Meriläinen

2 February – 4 March 2018

The 8th Turku Biennial is undertaken by 16 top of the line artists working in Finland. The exhibition is displayed in two locations, the museum Aboa Vetus & Ars Nova as well as Turku Artists’ Association’s Gallery Å.

During the 8th Turku Biennial art works of the three biennial artists will be on display in Gallery Å. The last exhibition showcases Reija Meriläinen‘s works.

Reija Meriläinen uses the new digital media in her work. Her creations may include electronics, interactivity, and 3D technology – for example, scanning, modelling and animation. In her most recent works, the artist has utilised the worlds of computer games and internet videos both as her material and as her instrument. The starting point for the work on display in the Turku Biennial is to create a social prosthesis: the physical and the digital combine to form a unity, which generates a bodily experience.

The exhibition opening is on Thursday 1 January at 6 pm, welcome!
