8th Turku Biennial

Simo Ripatti

22 December 2017 – 28 January 2018

The 8th Turku Biennial is undertaken by 16 top of the line artists working in Finland. The exhibition is displayed in two locations, the museum Aboa Vetus & Ars Nova as well as Turku Artists’ Association’s Gallery Å.

During the 8th Turku Biennial art works of the three biennial artists will be on display in Gallery Å. The second exhibition showcases Simo Ripatti‘s works.

Simo Ripatti’s contribution consists of two idiosyncratic spatial works. Together, they form an interpretation of the classification that we use to perceive the world and to create various groupings and structures. Ripatti’s works do not, however, aim to define the concept of classification or even its necessity. Rather, they serve as a basis for examining questions of this nature. The spaces built in the gallery will ultimately be perceived from the same perspective, even though the direction of the viewer’s gaze seemingly changes.

The exhibition opening is on Thursday 21 December at 6 pm, welcome!
