Under the glass is a photograph. The image is so familiar that I can’t exactly recall what it represents.

On the edges of the glass frame are metal clips, one on each side. They form a composition that is charmingly symmetrical.

The folder contains hundreds of pictures, nearly identical to each other. I select one of them.

The exhibition consists of two parts: paintings installed upstairs of the gallery space and the wall painting downstairs. The works are connected with the idea of image as a recording, kind of a container as well as a substantial object.

Lotta Hänninen (b. 1984) has graduated from Finnish Academy of Fine Arts in 2012. Her works has been exhibited most recently in Gallery Jangva and Gallery Forum Box’s joint exhibition CATCH in Helsinki. Hänninen lives in Espoo and is an aspirant member of Finnish Painters’ Union.

The exhibition is supported by Alfred Kordelin Foundation, Arts Promotion Centre Finland and Arts Council of Uusimaa.

The opening of the exhibition is at Thursday 21st May at 6 pm.. Welcome!
