This Exhibition presents large monochromatic drawings that are made by technical drawing pens. The artworks have been made mostly without sketching, by drawing line after line, marks after marks allowing feelings and unconscious impulses guide the process.

The name of the exhibition ”Nulla dies sine linea – Not a day without a Line” refers to the importance of the drawing process.Visual Artist Outi Aho says: “ For me, drawing is both visual thinking and physical experience – feeling the mark. Direct connection to the material, pen and paper, is important. While I am drawing I am negotiating with my rational and irrational thinking, with my intellectual and intuitive mind, and with my head and my hand.”

Outi Aho’s works explores the boundary of the real and imaginary. Although the drawings has been created from artist’s own fantasy, they embody familiar and universal forms. Therefore it is easy to find personal meanings from the organic shapes of the works.

Outi Aho (b. 1965) lives in Lempäälä, Finland and works in Tampere, Finland. Her works have been shown in various private and group exhibitions since 2002. She is graduating as Bachelor of Fine Arts from Art Academy of Turku at spring 2015. This exhibition is part of her thesis.
