My latest series of paintings deals with change, growth and the connection between past and present. The powerful impact of space in my works of art is similar to the structure of mind through its layers. The figures are personifications of moods and spiritual process of change. Their rough shapes search for their final channel and surfaces are like partially scorched. The new layers cover the old ones. There is not going to grow anything new without a change, but the past is continuously present and glimpses beneath the layers as memories and mental images of continuing incompleteness.

This concretizes also in technic. I have dredged my old abandoned, in my opinion failed work and reused them by reconnecting them with my new works. As a result of this process became an interesting symbiosis of new and old. It was challenging to meet the old paintings and face the memories of failing in them. But they turned out to be good building material since they also contain a lot of possibilities.

Welcome to the opening on Thursday 6th of November at 6-8 pm and to meet the artist on Sunday 30th of November at 3pm!

The exhibition is a part of Finnish Artist Association`s STS150-anniversary program.
