8th Turku Biennial

Posted on 9.11.2017

The 8th Turku Biennial does not have a predetermined theme: the exhibition gives the invited artists free reign. In their works, the artists will discuss the current state of the world around us. Definition of one’s own space, boundaries, being an outsider and themes of remembering will be strongly present in the works. Many of the subjects appear as timeless, time-defying meditations. In the working methods of many artists, the union of art and research is emphasised – the processes of art and research work come closer to each other. The works open a topical view into Finnish contemporary art.

Sixteen artists working in Finland will participate in the 8th Turku Biennial. In addition to Aboa Vetus & Ars Nova, works will be on display in Gallery Å of the Turku Artists’ Association in winter 2017.
