Harbour – Tales from Journeys

Posted on 11.8.2012

The Turku Artists’ Association’s summer exhibition Harbour introduces artworks and documents from member artists. The works are thematically linked to journeys and travels. The theme is widely interpreted: the pieces can be inspired by travels abroad but also for example by a spiritual or artistic journey. The exhibition space is one inspirational factor for the participating artists; the “harbour” of the exhibition is Suomen Joutsen, which is known for its history and journeys around the world.

The theme of the exhibition is discussed in different ways through the different media of visual arts. The exhibition displays painting, installation, photography, sculpture and video art from the following artists: Erika Adamsson, Heini Aho, Annika Dahlsten ja Markku Laakso, Veli Ekroos, Tonja Goldblatt, Sini-Meri Hedberg, Riitta Kuisma, Jani Helge Muurinen, Minna Maija Lappalainen, Riitta Liede, Eliisa Määttälä, Oili Puolitaival, Elina Ruohonen, Mailis Saralehto, Kristina Seppänen, Minna Sjöholm, Panu Thusberg, Eija Tähkäpää, Juhani Vikainen and Kimmo Ylönen. The works have been selected by a jury set by the board of Turku Artists’ Association.

The exhibition is part of the JÅ Summer programme.

The Turku Artists’ Association’s summer exhibition is open from 1st June to 31st July 2012.
