ILLUGI EYSTEINSSON, Islanti

Illugi Eysteinsson is a highly experienced architect/artist with the ability to visualise intriguing possibilities to any challenge, be it public spaces, event structures or Art in the Public Realm.

As a production designer and an art director, he has worked for; 20th Century Fox, the Muppets Show, Granada TV, Channel 5, Darlow Smithson, BBC, The Globe Theatre, Royal National Theatre and Ralph Lauren. For the last 4 years he has focused on sets for contemporary Dance, collaborators have included Akram Khan which won the South Bank Awards for Ma.

As an artist of the Public Realm he has been commissioned by the Art Council of Sweden, the Trade Council of Iceland and the Nordic Art Front. In Britain, commissioning bodies include the RBS, and SPLASH in East London.

Community Workshops run by illur have ranged from modelmaking workshops for children in an East London housing estate to performance workshop for Tower Hamlet University. illugi was a lead artist for two consecutive years at the Earls Court Festival, on behalf of Response Community Centre, involving 450-650 people of all ages.
