Flux Aura is an international environmental art event in the city of Turku in Finland. It was arranged for the first time in 1996, when 23 European artists created environmental art in the central city area and along the riverside.
In 2009 Flux Aura - Fluxations is organized by the Turku Artists' Association and it also belongs to Turku 2011, European Capital of
Culture program. Fluxations has selected 22 artists with fresh ideas and experience in environmental and conceptual arts. During the event,
21 temporary artworks has been realized along the area of the river Aura, that runs through the city of Turku.
FLUX AURA is a multidivisional manifestation where artists search new ways to communicate with each other and the environment. The concept allows the artists to make either statements of their ideas concerning environmental questions or to create artwork in a chosen place, following the restrictions and guidelines of that particular place.
In 2009 the Turku Artists’ Association celebrates its 85th anniversary with Flux Aura. During the event, 21 temporary artworks will be realized along the area of the river Aura.
Works will be realized during 1 - 13.6 2009 and they will be taken down in the end of September. The Turku Artists’ Association will help to find the materials needed, and try to cover the costs as much as possible.
